Paramount+ shows might be heading from streaming to broadcast, courtesy of this fall’s CBS primetime lineup.
“We’re looking at some of the Paramount+ originals” to fill in gaps in the fall schedule, CBS president and CEO George Cheeks said during a keynote speech on Tuesday, our sister site Deadline reports. Those gaps are there, of course, due to the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike, which is well into its second month and is forcing networks to scramble to replace the scripted shows they would usually roll out in the fall.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the June 13 episode of Jeopardy!] In the June 13 episode of Jeopardy!, five-day champion Suresh Krishnan had to defend his $53,999 total winnings against nonprofit fundraiser Laura Blyler Scanland and graduate student Joe Siebert. But as the game went on, people began to notice all the triple stumpers going on throughout, especially one that involved The Lord’s Prayer. As the game kicked off, host Mayim Bialik began to read the clue “Matthew 6:9 says, ‘Our Father, which art in heaven, [this] be thy name,” leaving all three contestants stumped on “hallowed.” This caused an uproar on Twitter, with users calling questions toward the contestants. “That’s “hallowed,” you heathens! #Jeopardy,” one user tweeted. Others went on to say, “Jeez these #Jeopardy contestants can’t solve clues about The Lord’s Prayer, Big Daddy and Elizabeth Taylor – I give up .” Going into Double Jeopardy, Krishnan had $5,000, Laura $200, and Joe 3,200. Update (6/13/2023): CBS CEO George Cheeks confirmed the @midnight reboot during a panel at the Banff World Media Festival on Tuesday, June 13, in Alberta, Canada. He said it was a natural program to air directly after The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. “The 12:30 a.m. slot is ripe for reinvention,” he said, per Variety. “There aren’t a ton of people watching at that hour, you really do need to think about what is the true cross platform version? What we ended up doing, first of all, it’s Funny or Die and Stephen Colbert, so the auspices couldn’t be any better. But when we sat down and talked about it, we talked about @Midnight, and it’s sort of been an irreverent comedy game show with stand-up comics and celebrities as guests. To me, it has a really nice feel coming out of Colbert.” Cheeks said the...

The Emmy-winning host has extended his contract with The Late Show by three more years, through 2026. His contract with CBS was set to expire this year. CBS CEO George Cheeks revealed the extension during the Banff World Media Festival on Tuesday, June 13, in Alberta, Canada. “We just extended him for three more years and I was praying for that to happen,” Cheeks said during his panel appearance, per Deadline, noting that Colbert is still “absolutely crushing it” and the show is still “firing on all cylinders.” The Late Late Show with James Corden ran on CBS immediately after Colbert’s program for eight years. As previously reported, the network was seriously considering a reboot of @midnight, executive produced by Colbert, for the time slot. Cheeks confirmed the @midnight reboot during this panel,...

What’s going on when we meet up again with The Wonder Years’ tight-knit Williams family? In the comedy’s sophomore season, it’s the summer of ’69, and patriarch Bill (Dulé Hill) is in New York City working with Marvin Gaye and the artist’s team, trying to make his songwriting dreams come true. “Will Bill be as cool as he is in Alabama?” Hill queries. “He has achieved this goal he’s desired for so long. But oftentimes it can be way more appealing from the outside. We’ll see Bill struggle a little and maybe lose a bit of his swagger.” With his dad occupied, impressionable 13-year-old Dean (Elisha “Ej” Williams; Don Cheadle continues voicing adult Dean’s narration) is free to explore the Big Apple. “New York is not Alabama, and Dean interacts with a lot of new personalities and experiences,” Hill reveals. City on Fire extinguishes its first season on Friday, June 16, and huge revelations and reversals are in the offing. As fans of the intricately plotted Apple TV+ drama know, the July 4th shooting of enigmatic Samantha (Chase Sui Wonders) remains unsolved, her smitten pal Charlie (Wyatt Oleff) has exposed the arson ring she was connected to, druggie musician William (Nico Tortorella) — after getting clean and reuniting with his uptown sister Regan (Jemima Kirke) — has been stabbed by their bitchy, shifty step-uncle (John Cameron Mitchell), and, oh yeah, New York has been plunged into the Northeast Blackout of 2003. It’s been quite the journey for this disparate group, from the grungy underground music scene and murder-for-hire plots to a crumbling marriage and a gorgeously directed, wordless exchange between estranged siblings. “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Garcelle Beauvais has said the new season of the Bravo reality series will drop in November — and will be a kinder edition of the franchise.
“I’m hearing November is our release date. It’s back to fun and glamour and friendships,” said Beauvais of Season 13. “It’s not as toxic as it was. I think the last season was pretty hardcore on everybody.”
Season 12 has been described by Variety’s resident “Real Housewives” correspondent Kate Aurthur as “grisly,” and ultimately led to the departure of long-time provocateur Lisa Rinna this past January.

There are many reasons why Silvio Berlusconi’s death, at 86 due to complications from chronic leukemia, represents the end of an era.
Berlusconi single-handedly created the concept of private national network television in Italy. He was part of that rare breed of Logan Roy-esque media moguls to emerge in Europe in the late 1970s and early 1980s, including Rupert Murdoch and Germany’s Leo Kirch. At a time when Italy’s airwaves were monopolized by state broadcaster Rai’s stodgy channels, his Mediaset TV platform imported Hollywood series such as “Dallas” and “Baywatch” and movies like “Rambo” and “Conan the Barbarian.

The Manifest series finale saw the passengers, on their Death Date, re-board Flight 828, face their judgment, then find themselves disembarking in New York on April 7, 2013, as they would have if their plane hadn’t disappeared. After raving that he’d love to work with Edwards again and therefore hopes that Ben does track down Vance anyway, Dallas shared with us that there was a teaser scene he was not in that was filmed but cut from the finale. “It sort of opens the story a little bit — or a lot — for further journeys to happen,” he said, admitting at the time...
